World Archery: Bangladeshi archers start campaign on Monday

Dhaka – Bangladeshi archers will start their World Archery Championship and OG QT World Ranking competition on Monday with an aim to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The competition is scheduled to take place at s-Hertogenbosch in Netherlands from June 10 to 16.
The ranking rounds of men’s and women’s recurve singles, recurve teams and recurve mixed team events is scheduled to be held on the first day of the competition.
If Bangladesh grab the top-eight spot of the recurve division, they will be able to qualify for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic 2020.
A nine-member team representing Bangladesh (six archers and three officials) reached Amsterdam on Saturday to take part in World Archery Championship 2019.
Among the six archers Roman Shana, Md Tamimul Islam, Md Tamimul Islam and Md Hakim Ahmed Rubel will compete in men’s recurve single, men’s team and mixed team event while Beauty Roy will compete in women’s recurve singles.
Asim Kumar Das and Susmita Bonik will take part in men’s and women’s compound singles and mixed team events.
Around 610 archers from 92 countries will compete in recurve and compound divisions at the 50th edition of World Archery Championships, a biennial event.
Among them 211 archers will compete in men’s recurve events and 161 archers will compete in women’s recurve.
On the other hand, 139 men and 99 women archers are going to compete in the compound divisions.
Also 57 men’s recurve teams, 45 women’s recurve teams, 64 recurve mixed teams, 38 men’s compound teams, 22 women’s compound teams and 45 compound mixed teams will compete this year.The archers are expected to return home on June 18.UNB
