Rajshahi – Under the theme of Critical Minds for Critical Times: Media’s role in advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies the World Press Freedom Day was observed at Rajshahi University (RU) on Wednesday.In observance of the Day a rally under the banner of Rajshahi University Reporters Unity (RURU) brought out at the campus that started in front of the RAKSU Bhaban of the university ended with a gathering after parading main streets of the campus.
More than 100 of the students of the Mass Communication and Journalism dept. along with campus reporters participated in the rally.
Noted, this day has been observed since 1993 after the declaration of United Nation May 3 as World Press Freedom Day that came up with the decision of UN General Assembly in 1991. – RU Correspondent
