World Social Work Day 2019 observed at RU

Rajshahi, March 19 – With the theme of ‘Promoting the importance of human relationships’ the Social Work department of Rajshahi University observed the World Social Work Day 2019 on Tuesday amid festivity and enthusiasm.
On the day teachers, students and staffs brought out a procession on the university campus at 10.30 am from the Mamtazuddin Kala Bhaban and after parading main streets ended at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium.
In the 2nd part of the day, a discussion meeting was arranged at the auditorium at 11.00 AM. Md. Maqsudul Hassan Toni and Sadia Tabassum Lima conducted the program while Professor Emaz Uddin of the department presided over it.
Following the welcome speech of Professor Rabiul Karim who is also the treasurer of social work association, different side programs were arranged at the auditorium focusing on the importance and impact of social work on the society. At this time a documentary film was also shown highlighting the violence against women.
The speakers said people need to realise the importance of human relationships. By developing human relationships it will be easier for them to be united against world terrorism and violence. Bangladesh is poor and backward. To keep pace with the developed countries social workers must work consciously.
The program ended with closing remarks from Professor Md. Ashrafuzzaman.
Among others, Professor Tanjima Zahora Habib, Dean Professor Fakhrul Islam, Professor Syeda Afreena Mamun, Professor Sadequl Arefin also spoke at the function.
