Yet another fuel price hike

DHAKA: The government on Thursday hiked fuel prices to reduce subsidy on imports of petroleum products.In line with the new rates, the price of diesel and kerosene was hiked by Tk 7 per litre, petrol and octane by Tk 5, which will come into effect from Friday.
The price of diesel and kerosene will be Tk 67 while petrol Tk 96 octane by Tk 99.
President of Petrol Pump Owners Association Nazmul Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews Thursday.
On September 18 in 2011, the government hiked fuel prices by a maximum of 19.04 percent a litre.
Usually, the prices of petroleum and energy products are increased through public hearing at Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), but this time the process was bypassed.
