A young man was chopped to death by his rivals over a land dispute at Ashutoshpur village in Sadar upazila on Monday night.The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, 27, son of Zaher Sheikh of the village.Police and locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between Ashraful and Sentu, 28, of the same village over a piece of land.On the fateful night, Sentu and his associates swooped on Ashraful and chopped him with sharp weapons indiscriminately on the way to a local market from his house at about 8.00pm, leaving him injured.Critically injured Ashraful was rushed to Pabna Medical College Hospital by locals, where doctors declared him dead.The locals also caught Sentu after a hot chase and handed him over to police.Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Qazi Haniful Islam confirmed the incident. -UNB, Pabna
