Robbers shot to death a villager and injured three others during a robbery incident at Bhadrasan village in Shibchar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain Bepari, 30, son of Aziz Bepari, a resident of the same village.Witnesses said a gang of masked robbers entered the house of Jangle Saha, neighbour of Jahangir by breaking open the door at about 2:30 am.They looted cash and valuables including gold ornaments worth Tk2 lakh taking the inmates hostage at gunpoint.Hearing the hue and cry of the inmates, locals rushed to the spot.The robbers opened fire on the neighbours leaving four of them injured, including Jahangir and his father Aziz.As Jahangir getting injured fell to the ground, robbers stabbed him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.The injured were admitted to Shibchar Health Complex.Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Thursday morning.Police also arrested Shahidul Islam, a resident of the same village in connection with involvement of the robbery at about 8:30 am on Thursday.Assistant Superintendent of Police Abu Bakkar confirmed the incident.
