A youth was slaughtered to death by miscreants at Paikpara near a mosque on PPB High School Road under Abhaynagar upazila in the district at around 10:30pm on Monday. Sub inspector Abdur Rahim, camp in-charge, Bhatpara police camp under Abhaynagar police station told newsmen that miscreants left the body abandoned on a culvert near the mosque after slaughtering the unidentified youth, 37. The police recovered the body and took it to the police camp at night. The body was taken to Abhaynagar police station in the morning and then sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for post mortem examination, the camp in-charge added. Locals suspect that motorcycle lifters took away the motorcycle after killing the unknown rider at the spot. The youth wore an ash-coloured pant and a black shirt, they added.No case was lodged and none was arrested immediately. – Our Correspondent
