Students of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC), Bogra, boycotted classes for the second consecutive day on Sunday to press home their seven-point demand, including ensuring their security.
The students went on a movement on Saturday in protest against a robbery at a female dormitory early Friday. Campus sources said the students refrained from attending classes on Sunday morning and took to the street.They formed a human chain by blocking Bogra-Rangpur highway from 11 am.
At one stage, interns of the medical college hospital expressed their solidarity with the agitating students and staged a three-hour work abstention.
The students also brought out procession on the campus.
Later, at a press briefing the protesters threatened to continue their class boycott until their demands are met.
Earlier, a group of armed miscreants swooped on a room of the female dormitory and looted valuables, including laptop, gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and cash in the early hours of Friday. – UNB
