DSE index rose Wednesday

The key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was rising , with less

than an hour left for close of Wednesday’s trade , despite opposition

BNP road rallies across the capital.

The general index stood over 4,183 points – more than 32 points higher

at 1:42pm.

Shares and mutual funds worth over Tk 1.38 billion changed hands with

147 issues gaining, 67 declining and 40 remaining unchanged.

Earlier on Tuesday, the premier bourse was closed due to public

holiday on occasion of Christmas.

On Monday, the DSE index rose by 0.14 percent amid Tk 1.817 billion turnover.

On Sunday, the first day of the week, the premier bourse opened more

than 30 points lower amid a comparative low turnover of Tk 1.97

billion.

Last week, the premier bourse witnessed a rise in its key index by

almost 86 points with an average turnover of around Tk 2.23 billion –

16 percent higher than the week before.
