Hold dialogue, resolve crisis: FBCCI

President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday urged the top leaders of two major political parties to sit for a dialogue and thus break the current political standoff.“Let’s compromise from everybody’s respective position, if necessary. Let’s help the nation get rid of the political disunity and dispute,” he said.
The apex trade body chief made the call at a meeting with editors and heads of newspapers, television channels and news agencies at Dhaka Club.
The FBCCI President said the government will have to be sincere in addressing the logical demands of the opposition, while the opposition will have to refrain from calling hartal at the same time. “All the problems should be resolved through dialogue.”
Akram Uddin Ahmed said the nation will remember their contributions towards resolving the political crisis peacefully if the political parties sincerely act to that end.
“We’re expecting a coordinated effort to establish a country having political and economic stability. We want to increase investment both in private and public sector to see a higher economic growth,” he said in his speech.
He hoped that the media could play a vital role in helping the political parties reach a consensus.
