President flying to Singapore

President Mohammad Zillur Rahman will be flown to Singapore on Sunday night as he was suffering from respiratory complications.

His Military Secretary Maj Gen Fakhruddin Ahmed told bdnews24.com: “An air ambulance carrying the President will leave Dhaka for Singapore at 10pm Sunday.”

Rahman was admitted at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Saturday night with breathing problems.

Gen Ahmed said, “The President was taken to CMH last night [Saturday night] as he was suffering from respiratory complications. He is being taken to Singapore for better treatment.”

An air ambulance is already on its way to Dhaka from Singapore, he added.

Zillur Rahman, 84, had taken office of the President in 2009.

He has been hospitalised several times due to poor health. He also had a medical check-up in the United Kingdom in December last year. bdnews24.com
