Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus is trying to destroy the Grameen Bank (GB).
“Dr Yunus established the Grameen Bank and he is trying to destroy the bank himself,” he said.
The finance minister came up with the allegation while talking to journalists at his secretariat office in the city in the evening.
The ruling Awami League lawmaker also opined that the Nobel Laureate has grabbed the bank.
He added: “Dr Yunus does not want that the bank is run smoothly without involving himself and his assumption is that the bank will not be run without him.”
Earlier, Muhith held a meeting with Chairman of Board of Directors of the Grameen Bank at his office.”
On March 2 in 2011, Professor Yunus was removed as Managing Director of the Grameen Bank as a Norwegian media documentary on shady fund transfer rattled his position in his microfinance institution.
