​JS budget session begins Monday

The budget session of the ninth parliament will begin Monday and the opposition BNP has decided to join the session ending their long boycott.Finance Minister AMA Muhith is likely to place the budget for fiscal 2013-14 on June 6. This will be the last budget of the present Awami League-led government.

The upcoming fiscal year’s budget is likely to be 13-14 percent higher than the current fiscal year.

This government, however, will not be able to implement the budget fully as its tenure expires at the middle of the next fiscal year.

Earlier, President Abdul Hamid Advocate under section 72(1) of the Constitution called the session on Monday night.

For the first time, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin will chair the budget session. (Baglanews24.com)
