MK Anwar, Dulu get bail

A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to BNP lawmakers MK Anwar and Barkatullah Bulu.Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zahirul Haque passed the order so that the lawmakers can join the budget session, which is beginning Monday.

On May 7, a case was filed against the BNP standing committee member MK Anwar with the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on charges of instigating communal forces and defaming a Swechchhasebak League leader.

Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque issued a warrant for the arrest of MK Anwar on the day.

The High Court on May 13 granted two weeks’ bail to BNP MP MK Anwar. A Dhaka court sent him to jail on expiry of his bail on May 27.

On the other hand, BNP joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu was arrested on May 15 in a case of bomb explosion and vandalism. A Dhaka court sent him to jail on the following day rejection bail and remand petitions.

Sub-inspector Alauddin of Paltan Police Station filed a case on March 12 against 154 named opposition men, including some top BNP leaders, and some unnamed ones on charges of obstructing police from discharging their duties, making attempts to kill cops and exploding crude bombs near BNP Nayapaltan central office on March 11.
