Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler in possession of six gold bars weighing 60 tolas from Keragachhi border area in Kolaroa upazila on Wednesday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Zakir Hossain, 27, son of Ramjan Ali, a resident of Keragachhi village in the upazila.Lieutenant Colonel Imam Ahsan, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-38, said tipped off, a team of BGB intercepted a motorcycle Zakir was ridding in the area at about 10:30 am prior to his crossing the Keragachhi border point into India.Later, the border force after searching his body recovered the six gold bars.The estimated cost of the seized gold would be Tk 30 lakh, added the BGB official.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Satkhira
