Police in a drive arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in the district town on Wednesday afternoon.
Identified as Abdul Hannan, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Basundia village in Sadar upazila, the arrestee is general secretary of Basundia union unit of Jamaat and also superintendent of local Singia Madrasa.Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a team of police launched a drive in the town and arrested Hannan in the afternoon.Hannan was arrested on charge of planning subversive activities, added the OC. -UNB, Jessore
