10 injured in Magura AL-BNP clash

Dhaka – At least 10 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at Sreekol Bazar in Sreepur upazila in Magura on Wednesday evening.Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said Sreekol AL President Amir Hossain had a longstanding dispute with local BNP leader Abu Sayed Mandol over establishing supremacy in the area.
Following the dispute, a group of BNP activists, led by Abu Sayed Mandol, beat up Amir Hossain and looted his shop at Sreekol Bazar in the evening, triggering a clash which left 10 people injured.Attackers allegedly vandalised and looted three shops.On information, a team of police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.The injured were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital.A case was filed and investigation is going on, the OC added.UNB news agency
