10 Jamaat men held in Khulna

Police arrested 10 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on charges of planning to carry out subversive activities from Dumuria upazila in Khulna last night.Police said they were arrested from a residence in Mikshimil area around 8 pm while 15 others managed to escape.
The arrestees were Jamaat-e-Islami Rudhaghara No 4 ward unit Ameer Tayebur Rahman, rokons- Younus Sardar and Islam Biswas, activists – Mehedi Hasan, Habibur Rahman, Younus Ali, Shafiqul Islam, Ilias Ali, Hannan Gazi and Shamim Sardar.
On a tip off, police arrested them when they were planning to carry out subversive activities after the Prime Minister’s speech, aired by different television channels yesterday evening, police said.
The arrestees were also accused of Chanchuri police camp attack case during hartal hours in the first week of March in 2013. -BSS, Khulna
