A court here on Tuesday sent to jail 11 Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists, including its district unit president Sharif Hossain, in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
Judge Sheikh Mohammad Aminul Islam of the Senior Judicial Magistrate (cognisance) Court passed the order when the accused prayed to the court for bail after appearing before it.Protesting the court order, the BCL leaders and activists brought out a procession in the district town.
As per the case statement, a bomb attack was carried out on local BCL leaders and activists, including district unit general secretary Anik Joarder, in the evening of January 23 this year.
Later, BCL man Khalid Hasan lodged a case against the 11 with Sadar Police Station. – UNB
