At least 14 houses were gutted as a fire broke out at Ajputti village in Saltha upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Afsar Uddin, chairman of Majhardia union, said the fire originated from an oven of the kitchen of one Altaf Matubbar’s house at the village in the afternoon and engulfed 13 adjoining houses.Locals doused the blaze after an hour of frantic efforts.The affected families claimed that the losses caused by the fire could exceed Tk30 lakh. -UNB, Faridpur
