15 Bgb escorted vehicles face crude bombs, brickbats in Rajshahi

At least 15 vehicles were damaged as blockaders hurled crude bombs at a convoy plying under the escort of law enforcers in the city on Thursday, leaving two people injured.
Police and witnesses said a fleet of 50 vehicles, including buses and trucks, was passing through Darikharabona intersection in the city on their way to Dhaka under the protection of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members.A group of pickets, mostly Jamaat-Shibir men, threw at least 20 crude bombs at the vehicles around 12:30pm.
Two people –- offset printing press employee Kazem and grocer Majem –  sustained burn injuries in the blasts.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Iftekhayer Alam said a group of Jamaat and Shibir activists brought out a procession at Greater Road in the city in the afternoon.
They launched the attack on the vehicles from the procession, he said.
The injured were admitted to Rajshashi Medical College Hospital. No one was arrested in this connection.
4 vehicles torched in Dhaka
Four vehicles were torched at different parts of the capital on Thursday evening during the 48-hour hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance in Dhaka and Khulna divisions.
Sources at the Fire Service central control room said miscreants set fire to three buses at Khaleque Motors ground in Gabtali area around 8:20pm.
Locals managed to douse the fire before the firefighters went to the spot.
Around 8:30pm, a vehicle was set alight near Abul Hotel in Khilgaon area. The blaze was put out by locals within a while.- UNB
