15 hurt as BGB members clash with locals in Jessore

At least 15 people were injured in a clash between members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local people ‘centering seizure of smuggled goods’ in Kashipur border area of Sharsha upazila on Saturday night.The injured were identified as Abdul Mannan, 50, Anisur Rahman, 37, Abdur Razzak,47, Dablu, 30, Abu Kalam, 40, Kesmat, 45, Bakul 25, Liton, 35 and seven others of the area.
Local sources said BGB members from Kashipur camp stopped the motorcycle of Dablu and his friends when they were going to Belta village around 7:30pm.The BGB members also attacked them and beat them.They charged baton on the local people as they protested the incident, which left them injured.Rafiq, company commander of Kashipur BGB camp, said there was a misunderstanding between the BGB members and local people over seizure of smuggled goods.On information, Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB-26 battalion, visited the spot. -UNB, Benapole
