15 hurt in crude bomb blasts at AL candidate’s rally in city

At least 15 people were injured as several crude bombs were exploded at the election rally of a ruling party candidate in old part of the city on Thursday afternoon.   Nine of the injured — Helena, 35, Monir, 20, Imran, 20, Quamrul, 20, Fazlur Rahman, 27, Khaleda, 22, Belal, 25, Mamun, 30, and Yead, 11 — were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Police said the election rally of Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, the Awami League candidate from Dhaka-7 constituency, was arranged at Islambagh Eidgah in the afternoon where the ruling party contestant spoke.   Some 4-5 crude bombs were exploded just after Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin left the venue completing his speech around 4:30pm, said sub-inspector Mahmudur Rahman of Chawkbazar Police Station. – UNB
