18 ‘residence towers’ to be built for police

The government has taken a project to construct 18 ‘residence towers’ across the county under the annual development programme (ADP) keeping in mind the security of police personnel, including the officials.Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan made the disclosure while responding to a starred question from treasury bench MP M Golam Mostafa Biswas in parliament.

The minister said the project is under a process of the Planning Ministry to hold a PEC meeting.In the first phase, the minister said, the towers will be built in Dhaka, Chittagong, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Sylhet and Comilla.He said construction works on eight residence towers are already underway in Dhaka Metropolitan area with funds from the revenue budget.Besides, he said, barracks are being constructed in all districts to mitigate the accommodation crisis of the police force, both male and female ones.
