A local leader of Awami League and an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in attacks by miscreants at separate places in the district town on Friday night.
The victims were identified as Mohamamd Russel, 16, an activist of Laxmipur municipality unit BCL, and Alauddin, 40, president of no. 4 ward unit Awami League under Char Kalkini union of Kamalnagar upazila.Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury, organising secretary of Kamalnagar upaizla unit Awami League, said miscreants swooped on Alauddin in Matirghat Machghat area of the town and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured.Later he was rushed to sadar hospital.Chowdhury Mahmudun Nabi Sohel, president of the district unit Chhatra League, said Russel was injured when a group of miscreants hit him with sharp weapons in Alia Madrassa area of the district town in the night.He was rushed to a local hospital.Abul Kalam Azad, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said actions will be taken against the attackers after investigation. -UNB, Laxmipur
