In separate incidents, a construction worker and a housewife were crushed to death by trains at the city’s Malibagh level crossing on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Mukul Hossain, 45, a construction worker and son of Abdus Salam of Alampur in Jamalpur, and Saleha Begum, 50, wife of Rafiqul Islam at Meradia in Khilgaon. Hospital sources said Mukul was breaking a ramshackle building near Malibagh level crossing. A speedy train hit him while crossing the rail tracks at about 1pm. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries at about 6:45 pm. In another incident, Saleha Begum received fatal injuries as another speedy train hit her at the level crossing at about 4pm. She was also admitted to the DMCH where she succumbed to her injuries at about 5:45 pm. The bodied were kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy. – UNB
