Dhaka- Two people, including a female garment worker, were killed in separate road accidents in Tejgaon and Jatrabari areas in the city on Saturday.One of the victims was identified as Kohinoor, 35, a machine operator of Posh garment and wife of Md Sirajul Islam of Keshabnagar in Ujirpur upazila of Barisal and while the identity of the other victim could not be known.
Police quoting witnesses said when Kohinoor, a resident of Mohakhali area, got down from a bus near her working place the same bus knocked her down while moving backward, leaving her critically wound around 7:50 am.
She was taken to a local hospital and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead at about 11:30 am.
In another incident, a 65-year old man, wearing lungi and white Panjabi, was injured after being hit by a speedy bus near Hujur Gate of Saidabad at about 2:30 pm.
He was rushed to a local hospital and then shifted to the DMCH where doctors declared him dead.
Separate cases were filed with respective police stations.
