Dhaka- Two people were killed in a tragic road accident at Satyapir on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur road in Sadar upazila on Saturday noon.
One of the deceased was identified as Asaduzzaman Shovan, 22, son of Gausul Azam, hailing from the district town.Police said a speeding truck knocked down a CNG-run auto-rickshaw when Shovan fell from the vehicle and received severe injuries while the three-wheeler with its driver on board got trapped under the truck.As the pedestrians started chasing the truck to catch the driver following the incident, the driver accelerated the speed to flee from the scene dragging the auto-rickshaw and its driver.When the truck reached Khonchabari, nearly eight kilometers away from the spot, locals waylaid the vehicle by laying human hauler on the road, brought out the auto-rickshaw and the body of the driver from under the truck.Later, the agitated locals gave the truck driver a tremendous thrashing and handed him over to police, said Kafil Uddin, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station.
