Khagrachhari – The army-led joint force arrested two main accused from Charmile area in Dighinala upazila on Saturday in connection with killing of Langadu upazila Jubo League leader Nurul Islam Nayan. -UNB
The arrestees were identified as Runel Chakma and Junel Chakma.
Following their statements, a diver team of Bangladesh Navy is operating a drive in Maini river to recover Nayan’s missing motorcycle.
Earlier on June 1, Jubo League leader Nurul Islam Nayan, 35, who used to carry passengers on his motorcycle in exchange for money, was found dead by a road in Dighinala upazila.
His motorcycle remained missing after the incident.
As two Pahari young men hired Nayan’s bike for going to Dighinala, locals alleged that the duo killed him in a planned way.
Following the murder, the Bangalee settlers went on the rampage while heading towards the graveyard along with the body of Nayan for burial from the upazila headquarters.
They set fire to over 100 houses in the upazila headquarters and several villages, including Manikjorchhara and Tintila.
