Two snatchers were killed in a gunfight between their companions and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel near the Jhilmil project area on Dhaka-Mawa highway early today.The identity of the deceased couldn’t be ascertained immediately.
Commanding Officer of RAB-10 senior ASP Fazle Rabbi told journalists, “A team of RAB was patrolling the Dhaka-Mawa highway at night. Sensing the presence of RAB, a gang of muggers took a U-turn with their hijacked private car (Dhaka Metro Ga-11-1623).
Being chased by RAB personnel, they opened fire on law enforcers, prompting them to fire back, said the RAB officer.
At one stage, the alleged muggers sustained bullet injuries, land died on the spot.
The RAB team recovered a revolver, three bullets and three bullet shells from the spot.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. – bdnews24.com
