Two alleged crime suspects were killed reportedly in an encounter with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in the city’s Banasree area early Sunday.
Officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station Mahbub Alam Tarafdar said that the incident took place near Banasree Ideal School and College in the early hours.Members of Rab-3 who set up a check post near the school gave a signal to a moving private car to halt, but the ‘miscreants’ fired shots at the Rab members, triggering a gunfight there, the OC said.
Later, the Rab members found two crime suspects wounded with bullets on the spot. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead, the OC said quoting Rab officials.
However, the OC could not confirm the identities of the deceased. The private car was seized. – UNB
