Two young men were chopped to death by miscreants at Dakhkhin Pirerbagh in Mirpur of the capital on Sunday midnight. The deceased were identified as Kayem, 32, resident of Madhya Pirerbagh of the area, and Jahangir, 31, hailing from Savar upazila of Dhaka district. Sub-inspector Qamrul Islam of Mirpur Police Station said local people spotted the bodies of the two young men on a road at Battala in the area around 12:30 am and informed police. Later, police recovered the bodies that bore several stab marks in the heads and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Locals told police that they could not understand who killed the young men as there was no electricity in the area at that time, said Qamrul Islam. The reason behind the killing could not be known yet, added the sub-inspector. – UNB
