‘Robber’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

An alleged robber was killed and three policemen were injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police on the Ramu-Naikhongchhari Road in Ramu upazila on Sunday night. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Appela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station, said a patrol team of police came under an attack by a gang of robbers who fired shots at them in the area around 9:30pm, leaving assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Milton Dey bullet-hit.Police in retaliation fired back leaving a robber dead on the spot. Two police constables were also injured.
Later, police recovered two guns and four rounds of bullet from the scene.
The injured ASI was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital from where he was later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. – UNB
