At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League over previous enmity at Natun Bazar in Joydebpur area on Friday.Locals said Mamun Mandal, a councillor of 35 no ward unit of AL, had an enmity with Sanaur Rahman, a councillor of 36 no ward unit, over establishing supremacy.
As a sequel to the enmity, supporters of Sanaur attacked the vehicles of the group of Mamun Mandal while returning from a function and vandalised some motorcycles in the evening.At one stage, a chase and counter chase took place among them, triggering a clash that left 20 people injured.On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.Supporters of Sanaur alleged that Mamun Mandal’s men stormed the office of Sanaur and ransacked it on Thursday.Besides, Sanaur was also injured in the attack. -UNB, Gazipur
