Police in a day-long drive arrested 21 Islami Chhatra Shibir activists
at the gate of the district’s central jail, while they were coming out
on bail, on Wednesday.
Of the arrested, 11 have already been sent back to jail showing them
arrested in different cases while the rest were produced before court
Thursday.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of Rajshahi
Metropolitan Police, said a team of DB police arrested at first 13
activists of Shibir, an associate body of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami,
from the jail gate in the morning while they were coming out on bail
from the jail, who were later sent to court in the afternoon.
Later, the team arrested eight more activists from the gate at noon
and handed them over to Boalia Model thana police around 9.00pm.
All of them were accused in cases filed for attacking police,
obstructing law enforcers from discharging their duty and explosions,
