Dhaka – A mobile court here in Gazipur on Saturday night sentenced 23 people to one month jail for their involvement in gambling in C&B area of Sreepur upazila.B M Kudrat Khuda, deputy collector of district administration, said that the mobile court led by executive magistrate Rehena Akhter, also upazila nirbahi officer, with the help of members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Ansar conducted a drive in a gathering place of gamblers at night.The mobile court arrested 25 people and seized nine private cars from the spot.Later, the arrestees were sentenced to one month jail by the mobile court.Moreover, police in another drive arrested 12 gamblers from the area.UNB news agency
