At least 24 students were injured as a picnic bus carrying them overturned at Kaptai Upazila in Rangamati on Saturday.
The accident took place around 11:15am at the Upazila’s Chitmorom on Chittagong-Kaptai highway, said Belal Hossain, OC at the Kaptai Police Station.
Condition of one of the injured is critical. He has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, OC said.Sixteen others have been admitted to Navy Hospital while seven others to Kaptai Christian Missionery Hospital, he said.
Quoting witnesses, he told bdnews24.com that the students of Noubahini School and College were going to Kaptai from Chittagong on a picnic by 12 buses.
One of the buses with 52 picnickers onboard overturned as the driver lost control of the vehicle, he said.
Two policemen were injured in another road accident at Bakalia Police Station area in the port city in the early hours of the day. – bdnews24.com
