24th BD Veterinary annual scientific confce starts at BAU

Mymensingh, March 24 – The 24th annual scientific conference of Bangladesh Society for Veterinary Education and Research (BSVER) on ‘Future Veterinary Education in Bangladesh’ was held at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Saturday.BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ali Akbar inaugurated the conference as chief guest with president of BSVER (acting) Prof Dr Shahidur Rahman Khan in the chair. Emeritus Prof Dr MA Sattar Mandal attended as a Guest of honour.
Dean of Veterinary Science faculty Prof Dr Priya Mohan Das , Director general of Livestock services Dr Md Ainul Haque, President of World poultry Science Association-Bangladesh branch Shamsul Arefin Khaled attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
‘Future Veterinary Education in Bangladesh’ symposium was presented by Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam of Pathology department and Prof Dr Sukumar Saha of Microbiology and Hygiene.
A plenary lecture on ‘AMR and our antimicrobial addiction: how do we stop digging our own graves’ was also presented.
It has been well recognized that livestock sector has been crucially important in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and this it has the potential to contribute much more in future. Veterinarians play the pivotal role in preserving livestock health and enhancing healthy livestock productivity, said BAU VC.
About 450 veterinary academicians, researchers and practitioners are attending the conference.
A total 115 scientific papers and posters will be presented in the two day-long conference. – Veterinary
