Chittagong district police in a series of drives detained 25 activists of BNP-Jamaat-Shibir from different upazilas of the district on Wednesday night and today.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said police detained 25 activists in overnight raids at various places of Hathazari, Mirsari, Sitakunda, Lohagara and Satkhania Upazilas on Wednesday night and today.
Among the detainees, eight were Jamaat activists, nine Islami Chhatra Shibir activists and eight BNP activists, the police officer said adding that they were detained to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance. -BSS, Chittagong
