29 sr leaders from BD political parties graduate fellowship

Dhaka, Sept 10 – Today, twenty-nine senior political leaders affiliated with Bangladesh Awami League (AL), Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jatiya Party (JaPa) graduated from the inaugural `Senior Leaders Fellowship Program.’ Democracy International (DI) recently launched the leadership program for senior political party leaders from districts across Bangladesh. Over the two-month program, the leaders learned about and honed their political leadership skills in areas including strategic political communications, conflict resolution, internal democracy, empowering women and youth, and advancing issue-based advocacy campaigns to improve citizens’ lives in their communities. The fellowship was organized under the Strengthening Political Landscape (SPL) project co-funded by USAID and UKaid and implemented by DI.
During the ceremony held at a local hotel in Dhaka, senior central party leaders presented certificates to the fellowship graduates. Mr. Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, National Standing Committee Member, Bangladesh Nationalist Party; Prof. Masuda Rashid Chowdhury, MP, Presidium Member, Jatiya Party (JaPa) and Shamima Shahriar, MP, Human Resources Affairs Secretary, Central Krishok League participated in the ceremony and all expressed their support for positive inter- and intra-party coordination, empowering women and youth in politics, and strengthening tolerant and inclusive politics in Bangladesh.
