Police recovered 2,971 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup and four cans of beer from a covered van in Akij Transport area in Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore district early Saturday.
They also arrested the van driver in this connection.The arrestee was identified as Mostafa, 40, son of Ayub Ali, a resident of Garakhola village under Phultala thana in Khulna district.Police sources said a team of police challenged a covered van of Akij Group while it was passing by Parbazar area of the upazila early in the morning.Being challenged, the van driver tried to flee but police caught the vehicle in Akij Transport area after a good chase.Later, they recovered the 2,971 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and four cans of beer after searching the vehicle and also arrested the van driver Mostafa.A case was filled in this connection. -UNB, Benapole (Jessore)
