3 burnt in Dhaka garment factory fire: 60 shanties gutted

Dhaka, Mar 31 – Three workers of a garment factory suffered burn injuries as a fire that broke out in a six-storey building at East Kazipara in the city early Saturday.The identifies of the injured could not be known yet.
Mizanur Rahman, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said that the fire broke out on the ground floor of the six-storey building due to electric short circuit around 3:17 am.
Locals rescued three workers who sustained burn injuries and sent them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Mizanur Rahman.
Later, two units of firefighters reached the spot and brought the blaze under control after an hour of frantic efforts around 4:35 am.
The extent of loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 5 lakh, he said.
Mwanwhile, at least 60 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out at Aganagar in the upazila on Friday night.
The fire broke out in a room of Hashem Shah’s mess in the area around 8pm and soon spread to the adjacent shanties.
A shop was also gutted in the fire.
On information, five units of firefighters rushed in and doused the flame after one and a half hours of frantic efforts, said Sajib Sarkar, in-charge of Keraniganj Fire Service and Civil defense.
The fire might have originated due to leakage in gas supply line said, he said.
However, no casualty was reported.
In another incident fire broke out in a building in the city’s Gulshan-1 area on Saturday noon.
On information, four units of firefighters rushed to the spot near Gulshan shooting Club and brought the blaze under control around 1:05 pm, said Inspector Mizanur Rahman, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
No casualty was reported immediately.- UNB
