3 buses torched in city, 4 receive burn injuries

At least four people, including a former constable, suffered burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack on a bus in the city’s Khilgaon area on Friday night, the 25th day of the non-stop countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.Sources at the Fire Service Central Control Room and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said miscreants torched a bus of ‘Turag Paribahan’ under the Khilgaon Flyover around 8:05pm hurling a petrol bomb at it, leaving four passengers –- ex-police constable Jamal, 55, Raju, 20, Belayet, 30, and Mostafizur, 22 — injured.
They were rushed to the burn unit of DMCH.
Miscreants also torched two buses at Tantibazar and Kaptanbazar in the city.
An Adamjee-bound bus of ‘Komal Bus Service’ was set afire on Kaptanbazar Flyover around 2:35pm.
Another bus of ‘Victor Paribahan’ set alight at Tantibazar intersection around 8:28am.
In both the cases, fire fighters unit rushed in and doused the blaze. However, no casualty was reported in the two fire incidents.
Meanwhile, Basumati Paribahan general manager Monir Ahmed, 40, and its manager Jibon, 30, sustained splinter injuries as pickets blasted a crude bomb in Mirpur-11 at night.
Besides, four crude bombs were blasted in front of Bangla Academy, leaving two people injured. – UNB
