Eminent jurist and president of Gano Forum Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday said they were trying to resolve the current political impasse unitedly.
“We are trying to resolve the crisis together. We have Manna bhai (convenor of Nagorik Oikya) and many others with us,” he said while talking to reporters before leaving the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office after meeting with her.
Dr Kamal said they want a fair democratic situation is restored in the country. “The 16 crore people also want it,” he said.Asked whether he went Khaleda’s office to extend his solidarity with 20-party’s hartal programme, he said went there to console the former premier at the death of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.
“I have signed the condolence book. I did not come here for any political discussion,” he said.
Replying to another question, he said they have taken the initiative for discussion. Dr Kamal had his last meeting with Khaleda Zia in 1991.
General secretary of Gano Forum Mostafa Mohsin Montu, former lawmaker Sultan Mohammad Mansur, among others, were present on the occasion.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna also entered the office of Khaleda Zia after sometime and met Khaleda Zia together with Dr Kamal. – Staff Reporter
