A Dhaka-bound bus of the Gangchil Paribahan rammed into an auto-rickshaw on at Chaltipara, in Sirajdikhan Upazila, Munshiganj district. The driver of the auto-rickshaw and a passenger died on the spot, Sub-Inspector of Sirajdikhan Police Station Arab Ali told journalists.The killer bus fled the scene after the accident, the police officer said. The identities of the deceased could not be immediately known. The injured were admitted to the Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex.
In another accident, the driver of a pick-up van used for carrying newspapers was killed and his helper injured when the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch.
The driver had apparently lost control, resulting in the mishap on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Bhaberchar of Gajaria Upazila of the district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as pick-up van driver Shafiqul Islam, 30, of Rangpur district.
Officer-In-Charge of the Gajaria Police Station Mamun-or Rashid told bdnews24.com that the accident occurred when Islam was coming back to Dhaka from Chittagong after supplying newspapers to the port city.
The body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy. – bdnews24.com
