Dhaka – Three children of a family drowned in a water body at Khalilpur village in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna district on Friday morning.The deceased were identified as Rohan Sheikh, 4, son of Liton Sheikh; Omi, 8, son of Golam Sheikh; and Sumaiya, 7, daughter of Tutul Sheikh of the village. The victims were cousins.
Shahidul Islam, Inspector (investigation) of Sujanagr Police Station, told UNB that the minor children fell into the swamp near their houses presumably while plucking water lily around 8am.
The trio was found floating in the water body and whisked off to Sujangar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, he said.
