3 to die for killing schoolboy in Chattogram

Dhaka – A court here on Thursday sentenced three people to death for killing a schoolboy after abduction in Rangunia upazila in Chattogram in 2012.The condemned convicts are Bijoy Bhattacharya, Rajib Roy Raju and Abdus Salam Belal.

Chattogram Additional District and Sessions Judge Begum Ferdous Ara pronounced the verdict acquitting two other accused in the case.

According to the case statement, on August 13 of 2012, the convicts kidnapped class VIII student Mohammad Azam from Roajarhat area of Rangunia for ransom.

They killed the boy as his family failed to give them the ransom.

Police arrested the three after Azam’s mother filed a case with Rangunia Police Station in this connection.

Later, according to convicts’ confessional statement police recovered body of the schoolboy.
