Dhaka – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh seized 320 gold bars weighing around 37 kg from the Mathabhanga River along Nastipur border in Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga on Wednesday noon.Being tipped-off that a consignment of gold would be smuggled to India through the border, BGB members took position around 80 No main pillar since the morning, said BGB battalion- commanding officer Iman Hasan.
The BGB team challenged three people who were moving around the pillar around 3pm, he said.
Sensing danger, the trio threw three bags they were carrying into the river and crossed into the Indian territory swimming across the river.Later, the paramilitary force members retrieved the three bags and found 320 gold bars inside those, Iman said.UNB
