GAZIPUR – A total of two mayoral candidates, one councilor for
reserved woman seat and 35 general councilors withdrew their
candidatures for the upcoming city corporation election in Gazipur
(GCC).
They stayed away from the city corporation election race today, the
last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
Presidium member of Jatyia Party (JP) and president of the party’s
Gazipur district unit Brig Gen (retd) Kazi Mahmud Hasan and Maulana
Fazlur Rahman of Islami Oikko Forum withdrew their nomination papers
for the mayoral post.
Buty Khanam withdrew her nomination paper from councilor post for
reserved woman seat.
After the withdrawal, the total candidates for mayoral post stood at
six, 126 for councilor post for reserved woman seat and 446 for
general councilors posts.
