40 injured as villagers clash in Sylhet

At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Paikraj village in Goainghat upazila on Tuesday.Sources said there had been a longstanding dispute between Ruhul Amin and Bilal Member over ownership of land of local Paikraj Primary School and Jame Mosque.As a sequel to it, two groups – one led by Ruhul Amin and another by Bilal – locked in a clash at 1.00pm after they failed to settle the dispute at a local arbitration.The clash left at least 40 people injured on both sides.Of them, 16 critically injured were rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital while the rest given treatment in a local hospital.Process was underway to file a case with Goainghat Police Station. -UNB, Sylhet
